The result object

Every finished verification — the single endpoints, the recent list, and bulk exports — returns the same result object.

Field Type Description
email string The address exactly as you submitted it.
normalized_email string The canonical form the verdict was computed against (lower-cased domain, whitespace trimmed, and so on).
verdict string The headline outcome — see verdicts.
sub_status string | null A machine-readable refinement of the verdict, such as mailbox_exists, mailbox_not_found, invalid_syntax, catch_all, disposable, or greylisted; null when none applies. See sub-statuses.
quality_score integer Deliverability quality, 0–100. Higher is safer to send to.
confidence integer How sure we are of the verdict itself, 0–100. A risky verdict at confidence 40 deserves a re-check; at 95 it does not.
provider string | null The mail provider hosting the domain’s mailboxes — one of google, microsoft, yahoo, proofpoint, mimecast, zoho, amazon_ses, protonmail, apple, fastmail, self_hosted, other; null when it could not be determined. New tokens may be added, so match defensively.
primary_mx string | null The domain’s highest-priority mail exchanger hostname, such as aspmx.l.google.com; null when the domain publishes none.
signals object The outcome of each individual check — see signals.
verified_at string ISO 8601 timestamp of when the verdict was produced.
verdict Meaning
deliverable The mailbox accepts mail.
undeliverable The mailbox rejects mail. Never send to these.
risky Mail is accepted but carries a material risk: catch-all domain, role address, suspected disposable provider, or greylisting that never cleared.
unknown The recipient’s side made it impossible to conclude — for example the server refuses verification probes. Still a genuine, billed outcome.

signals has exactly ten keys. Each value is one status string.

Signal What it checks
syntax The address is well-formed.
domain The domain exists in DNS.
mx The domain publishes mail exchangers.
smtp The mail server accepts the mailbox.
catch_all Whether the domain accepts every address (a warn here is what makes a verdict risky).
role_account Whether the local part is a shared role such as info@ or support@.
disposable Whether the domain is a throwaway provider.
dnsbl Whether the domain or its mail servers appear on DNS blocklists.
toxic Whether the address is a known spam trap.
greylisting Whether the server greylisted the probe and whether the retry cleared it.
Status Meaning
pass The check succeeded cleanly.
fail The check produced a definitive negative reading.
warn The check found a risk that is not fatal on its own.
unknown The check ran but could not reach a conclusion.
skipped The check was intentionally not run — usually because an earlier one already settled the verdict.
error The check could not run because of a fault on our side.
